Chief Justice of Morocco calls on CM Sindh

KARACHI: The Chief Justice, Supreme Court of Morocco, Justice Mustapha Fares, Friday called on Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, at the CM House here.

He was accompanied by a six member delegation including three judges of Morocco.

Chief Justice of the Federal Shariat Court of Pakistan, Justice Agha Rafiq Ahmed Khan, and Honorary Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco, Ishtiaq Baig, were also present.

Sindh Chief Minister welcomed the Chief Justice of Morocco Supreme Court and informed him that there is complete democracy in Pakistan and all institutions are functioning under constitution.

He said that legislature, Judiciary and executive are main pillars of constitution and all institutions are functioning under their jurisdictions freely.

Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that there is supremacy of law and also the rule of law.

He said that it was Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto who gave constitution to the nation which was unanimously passed by all political parties but for some time constitution was kept in abeyance and suspended.

Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that when our party came into power, it got 18th and 20th amendments passed from parliament and got the original constitution restored.

It was reaffirmed that nothing will be done against democracy, parliamentary system and Islamic ideology, while there were complaints to provinces before adoption of 18th amendment, he said.

Sindh Chief Minister added that Judiciary is completely independent and the Chief Justice after consultation is fully authorised to appoint the Judges.

He informed that Shaheed Zulifikar Ali Bhutto convened Islamic Summit in 1974 and King Hasan of Morocco also attended the Summit.

Chief Justice Supreme Court of Morocco thanked the Sindh CM for a warm welcome and said that the constitution of Morocco is functioning under Islamic Shariat Law whereas the Judiciary is also independent and can appoint Judges freely, while no institution can interfere in the affairs of Judiciary.

He further said that no body can violate or change the decisions of Judges, and the Senate and Parliament pass the laws unanimously or with majority vote and all have to follow those laws.

No one can interfere in the affairs of courts, he added. Chief Justice Supreme Court of Morocco said that founder of Pakistan Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto are very famous in Morocco.

He added that it was during second Islamic Summit held at Rabat (Morocco) which resolved and appointed late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto as Chairman of Summit.

He said that the present government is functioning under an Islamic party and it runs the affairs in coordination with other parties.

Justice Mustapha Fares said that there is prominent status of Pakistan among Islamic countries.

Later, the Sindh Chief Minister presented traditional gifts of Khais, Ajrak and Sindhi Topi to the Chief Justice of Morocco and other members of the delegation.
