Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has become model of excellence through its service-oriented policies and further endeavouring to come up to the expectations of the general public by ensuring traffic discipline in the city, said Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood here on Monday.
Addressing a meeting to review the performance reports of ITP officials, Dr Moeen said ITP had got the image of corruption-free and people-friendly force through hard work and eliminating the curse of corruption from the organisation. He said that ITP provided help to more than 7750 motorists on deserted roads due to some mechanical or other problems during the year 2010. The force succeeded to introduce an exemplary traffic system in the Capital and managed to reduce fatal road accidents significantly this year, he added.
"Elimination of VIP culture and equal application of law are the operational codes of the ITP which has become the model of excellence for all law enforcement agencies in the country," he added. He said driving school of ITP was imparting standardised driving education and thousands of people had received driving training from the school so far.
He said that ITP was taking action against the public transport vehicles not completing the routes and overcharging the commuters. The purpose is to provide better transport facilities to the general public, the SSP said and asked the citizens to lodge their complaints at Traffic Help Line 915 in case of route incompletion by PSVs and smoking by the drivers or conductors.
