Al-Khidmat Foundation's district president Dr Nadeem Sarwar and General Secretary Azhar Iqbal while giving briefing about foundation's activities to philanthropists, traders and industrialists here Thursday said that disaster management units had been established at Multan, Matiari, Mala Kand, Badin and Chaar Sadda for immediate rescue of people in case of any calamity.
They said that all necessary material has been provided at the units to cope with any emergency while special attention was being paid on training of volunteers to ensure proper help of affected persons.
Al-Khidmat Foundation has always helped the people during calamities including floods and earthquakes, they said.
They said that 200 ambulances, 233 hospital & clinics and 54 diagnostics centers are functional across the country under Al-Khidmat Foundation.
The foundation has also set up 78 formal, 134 non-formal (Bathik) schools in the country and provided scholarships to 136 students for higher education besides establishing 39 schools in Thar area. They said that foundation had installed 349 water filtration plants and 2,148 hand pumps in the country besides digging 545 wells in Thar also.
