LAHORE: Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) Senior Vice President Kashif Younis Meher has urged the government to focus on equipping the students with right skills and information technology based knowledge as the maximum utilization of the human potential is key to success and a necessary ingredient to make Pakistan a developed country.

Kashif Younis Meher was addressing the participants of “10th LCCI Web Development Course” at the LCCI on Monday. Executive Committee member Muhammad Yousaf Shah was also present on occasion.

The LCCI Senior Vice President said in the knowledge race in this era of rapid globalization, the quality of information technology based higher education has to be enhanced to bring it at par with international standards for the sake of progress and prosperity.

“And to achieve the goal, the government would have to spend more on education as the existing budget is too meager to produce desired and required results.”

Kashif Younis Meher said that it had now become very important to do all possible to help the next generation as today they are competing with the students from the developed world when they enter in to the job market.

“Right out of the gate of their Alma Mater, our students face altogether new challenges, therefore they must be equipped well to cope with these challenges and for the purpose the educational institutions must continue to review and upgrade their curricula.

He said that the educations must stay in touch with private sector to get a feedback on upcoming industry requirements regarding new hiring. The curriculum should be designed in proper consultation with the private sector that has both the ability and the capacity to guide the educationists in right direction.
