KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Zakat and Ushr, Sajid Jokhio has distributed Rs4.42 million among 18 different hospitals in the city for treatment of needy patients

According to a press release issued on Tuesday he also presented cheques amounting more than Rs. 2.3 million to the administrators of seven different social welfare institutes of Karachi on Monday evening.

The hospitals to receive needed assistance, meant specifically for destitute patients, included both public and private sector institutions.

Bantva Anis Hospital, Ojha Institutue of Chest Diseases, Dow International Medical College Hospital, Sindh Government Hospital - Liaqutabad, Sindh Government Hospital - New Karachi, Manghopir Leprosy Hospital, Baqai Medical University Hospital, Sindh Government Hospital - Korangi, Sindh Government Hospital - Saudabad, Kutiyana Memon Jamaatkhana Hospital, Sindh Government Hospital - Ibrahim Hyderi, Godhra Muslim Medical Centre, Spencer Eye Hospital Women and Children Health Clinics at Karachi Central Prison were among the facilities to collect the cheques from the minister.

Dar ul Khushnood, Dar ul Shifa, Family Education Welfare Society, Government National Special Education Complex, Vocational Training Center for Disabled Persons, Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Centre for Disabled Persons were among the Karachi based social welfare institutions to collect the assistance cheques from the provincial minister for zakat and ushr.

Minister Sajid Jokhio said the government was committed to support the poor segments of the society.

He said his department would continue to assist institutions attending to the health care and rehabilitation needs of destitute and disabled people.
