Nadra cancels JUI-F leader's CNIC

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has cancelled computerized national identity card (CNIC) of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) senior leader and ex-senator Hafiz Hamdullah after it was established that he is a confirmed "alien". According to NADRA officials, the authority cancelled the CNIC of former senator and digitally impounded the CNIC issued to him.

NADRA has confirmed that JUI-F former senator is an alien as he is not a citizen of Pakistan, he said. He said that the authority has written a letter to Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) which has then directed TV channels not to invite Hamdullah as a guest in their TV shows.

A notification issued by the media watchdog while referring to a letter issued by NADRA dated October 11 affirmed that the JUI-F leader was not a citizen of Pakistan. Hamdullah elected as an MPA from Balochistan in 2002 General Elections on Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal's ticket and served as provisional health minister from 2002 till 2005. In March 2012, he was elected as senator on a general seat on JUI-F ticket. His tenure ended in March last year.
