Government to be held responsible if anything happens to Zardari, says PPP leader

Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader Nayyar Hussain Bukhari has said Asif Ali Zardari is not being provided with proper health facilities in jail and if anything happened to him, the current government will be responsible.

Addressing a news conference on Wednesday, Bukhari said board of doctors advised former president Asif Ali Zardari to be kept in hospital, but the government rejected the medical board's decision and kept him in jail and did not provide him proper health facilities.

PPP leader Farhatullah Babar and party media chief Nazir Dhoki were also present on the occasion.

Bukhari said PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari also met Asif Ali Zardari in jail on Monday last and told media that proper health facilities are not being provided to Asif Ali Zardari.

Answering a question, he said it is unfortunate that incompetent rulers have been imposed on the country and they are neglecting the Constitution, law and the rights of the people.

Answering another question, the PPP leader said National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is not conducting accountability across the board. Attitude and treatment of NAB is different with the people of opposition and the government.

Farhatullah Babar said on Oct 15, it was decided after the court direction that Asif Ali Zardari should be shifted from jail to the hospital but the jail superintendent wrote a letter to the DIG Prison and the DIG Prisons wrote to the secretary home and one week passed in this process.

Answering a question about deal with the government, Babar said if there were any deal, Zardari and Faryal Talpur would not have been in jail.
