US weekly power output falls 1.6pc vs year ago

The week's output was 1pc higher than the 88,671 GWh produced in the preceding seven-day period, according to EEI data.

Year-on-year output fell in five of the nine US geographical regions tracked by the electric power trade group.

The Pacific Southwest region registered the biggest year-on-year percentage decline at 17.3pc, followed by the West Central region at 8.6pc.

For the past 52 weeks, US power production totaled 4,055,639 GWh, down 0.3pc from the prior 52-week period, the EEI added.
