LHC suspends notification for SNGPL's new BoD
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday suspended a notification by the federal government for the appointment of new board of directors (BOD) of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL).
Justice Muzamil Akhtar Shabir passed the orders while hearing a petition filed by Mian Misbahur Rehman, former member of the SNGPL's BoD, challenging the SNGPL's new BOD.
The petitioner's counsel argued that the SNGPL was an independent institution and its board of directors were elected for a period of three years through the election under the Company Act.
He submitted that the petitioner was elected as member of the SNGPL's BoD for a period of three years but he was removed from the slot as the government had appointed a new BOD.
The court after hearing the initial arguments suspended the notification for appointment of new BOD and issued notices to the federal government, SNGPL and others and sought reply.
