The Supreme Court (SC) has fixed April 9 to hear a petition filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) challenging the bails of Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif and Fawad Hassan Fawad.

The bench will be headed by headed by Judge  Azmat Saeed and comprise Judge  Faisal Arab and Judge Ijaz-ul-Ahsan, local media reported.

On March 18, the bureau had challenged the Lahore High Court's (LHC) order in granting bail to Sharif and Fawad in Ashiana Housing scam and Ramzan Sugar Mills cases in the top court. The petition requested the apex court to set aside the LHC's verdict.

On February 14, the LHC accepted the bail petition of Sharif and ordered his release. Sharif had been in National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) custody since October 5 last year. He was arrested by NAB for corruption in the Ashiana housing scheme case.

In November last year, the bureau again arrested the opposition leader in the National Assembly in the Ramzan Sugar Mills case alleging that Sharif had used public funds for the construction of a bridge linking to their mills in Chiniot, Punjab.
