According to the PR sources, on the direction of PR Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad and Chairman Sikandar Sultan Raja, a three-member investigation committee comprising Chief Engineer Open Line Nisar Mamon, Chief Mechanical Engineer Rahat Mirza and Chief Operating Superintendent Amir Baloch has been formed to fix the responsibilities.
Whereas, three officers including Deputy DS Sakkur Qasim Zahoor, PWI Khanpur Sohail Zia and Head Train Examiner Khanewal Amjad Shehzad have been suspended in this regard.
On the other hand, the railways could only be succeeded in opening partial traffic at the track after efforts of 14 hours when 13 wagons of a freight train got derailed in between Kot Samba and Taranda railway stations near Rahim Yar Khan.
The PR suspended train operation and stopped several trains at different stations so that passengers could be facilitated.
The railways sources said that traffic operation would be normalized in two or three days. The PR administration felt sorry to passengers for inconvenience they had to face.
