KHANEWAL: In connection with the World Forests Day, a plantation ceremony was held here in Pirowal national forest, near Khanewal on Thursday.

Provincial Minister for Management & Professional Development Syed Hussain Jahania Gardezi while addressing the ceremony said: "We are lucky that we have got a national forest park Pirowal which shows our love and care for the trees and plantation."

He informed the participants that 2,000 plants were arranged by the district administration while another 50,000 saplings by all the departments in the district.

He said the PTI government had already launched its billion tree campaign which was heading forward successfully.

Deputy Commissioner Khanewal Ashfaq Chaudhry said that plants and trees were not only vital for environmental improvement but also a source of earning.

Forest department conservator Ishtiaq Ahmad earlier gave a briefing on the forest density and efforts to improve it.

A walk was also arranged to highlight the significance of forests.
