The United States has named an avenue of Brooklyn in New York City after the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

The New York City council has designated the part of Coney Island Avenue 'Mohammad Ali Jinnah Way'. This resolution was tabled by Jumaane Williams, city council member and then adopted after a majority vote, local media reported.

“It is a gift to the Pakistani-American community here as well as to the people of Pakistan,” said the Pakistani-American Youth Organization President Waqil Ahmad.

The official ceremony of the the inauguration of 'Mohammad Ali Jinnah Way' is expected to be held in January.
