Following the footsteps of Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has also cancelled leaves of its employees keeping in view the emergency situation in the city oozing out of torrential rain over the last 24 hours. Sources said the LDA has divided the city in six zones to manage the monsoon season while special steps are being taken for the drainage of Orange Line train track.
Chief Engineer Mazhar Hussain Khan said the LDA staff as well as the contractual staff would look after the city throughout the monsoon season. He said those showing leniency would be punished as per law. He has directed the staff to ensure their presence in the field during the rainy season and also extend cooperation to WASA for immediate drainage of rainy water in low lying areas of the city.
