Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) - an electoral coalition of religio-politico parties - has begun its election drive with a pledge to reform tax system, introduce social security, generate jobs and hold corrupt ruling elite accountable if elected in July 25 polls.
The central and local leadership of the MMA that is a formation of different religious and sectarian political parties vowed to defeat the secular forces and establish the Sharia rule in the country with equality and justice in line with the Islamic principles. The MMA plans to bring back the money laundered abroad.
"Public should make the July 25 polls a day of accountability for the corrupt rulers and vote to the MMA to succeed. People and Ulema will foil the conspiracies of those forces making the country secular and liberal," Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, Senator, Siraj-ul-Haq, who is also the Central Vice President of MMA told his workers during the "Ittehad-e-Ummat" convention at Hakeem Saeed playground on Thursday night.
He also urged the religious scholars to play their due role in strengthening unity and harmony in the country. "The way people in Afghanistan resisted the USSR invasion and inflicted a defeat on the then superpower that had a strong backing of liberal and secular forces. We will foil the conspiracy of liberals here too," the senator said, adding that the MMA leadership is 'honest' and has the ability to enforce Sharia laws.
"We will provide free education to every child, make the country's economy interest free, bring in Zakat system, and reform the tax system. We will provide social security to every citizen aged beyond 70 and jobs to youth. We want a rule of law to ensure equality," he said, adding that the MMA will spend more of the budget on education growth after defence expenditure.
Central Vice President of MMA, Owais Noorani, who is the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUP), said that the public suffered the most from corruption and demerits in the society. He vowed that the MMA's 'honest' leadership will free the public from all long-standing social and civic problems. He blamed the rulers for bringing the country into tatters.
"Make a stamp on 'book' symbol [the election symbol of MMA] on July 25 to make your children's future bright," he said, adding that the MMA government will hold a strong accountability of corrupt rulers and bring the plundered money back to the national exchequer. Local leader of Jamiat Ulema-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) and MMA, Qari Muhammad Usman said that the coalition will implement Islamic laws in the country. He said that the religious forces foiled the anti-Islam move of secular and liberals.
Shaikh Ali Muhammad Abu Tarab - central leader of MMA, who belongs to Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadees Balochistan, asked the public to support the religious coalition to rule the country with Islamic laws. He said that the MMA will make all out efforts to end corruption in the country. Secretary General MMA Sindh, who is also leader of Islami Tehreek Sindh, Allama Nazir Abbas, JI's Asadullah Bhutto, Dr Meraj-ul-Huda Siddiqi and Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman and JUI-F, Muhammad Aslam Ghori also spoke during the event.
