National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president and former Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in an inquiry pertaining to the Punjab Power Development Company on July 5.
The NAB has asked Shahbaz to bring necessary record of the company. Earlier, the NAB had summoned Shahbaz in 'Saaf Pani Case' on the same date. NAB had earlier sent a notice to Shahbaz containing 17 points seeking justification of establishing the Saaf Pani Company without a permanent solution to the provision of clean water.
In the Punjab Power Development Company's case, the NAB has earlier accused Shehbaz's son-in-law Imran Ali Yousaf of receiving millions of rupees from PPDC's former chief executive officer Ikram Naveed and possessing assets beyond his known sources of income.
Ikram Naveed was already declared guilty by Anti-Corruption Establishment of embezzling Rs 450 million in 2016. However, Naveed was later made a director of Saaf Pani Company.
Moreover, the bureau has also filed the request to place the names of 23 individuals on the Exit Control List (ECL). The list includes two government officers, two provincial secretaries, and presidents of five companies.
In another development, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed a reference against bureaucrat Ahad Cheema in the Ashiana Housing Scheme case.
Cheema is accused of awarding a contract of the Ashiana-e-Iqbal housing project of approximately Rs14 billion to Lahore Casa Developers - a joint-venture which was ineligible for the contract - while serving as the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) director general.
The NAB had already launched an investigation against the management, officers and officials of the Punjab Land Development Company (PLDC), management and owners of Lahore Casa Developers, officers and officials of the LDA after the government cancelled the award of the Ashiana-e-Iqbal housing scheme to the successful bidder M/S Chaudhry Latif and Sons.
Moreover, the NAB has requested the Interior Ministry to put the names of two secretaries of Punjab government and five heads of companies on the Exit Control List (ECL).
Ali Khan Jan, the secretary primary and secondary healthcare Punjab, Gujranwala Waste Management Company CEO Dr Ataal Haq and Haroon Ashraf's name has been requested to be put on the ECL. Other names that the NAB has requested to be put on the ECL include Okara Deputy Commissioner Aslam Qasmi, Faisalabad member price committee Arshad Ahmed, Mian Latif, Ali Bajwa and Muhammad Aslam.
The NAB has further requested that the head of the Lahore Waste Management Company, Waseem Ajmal, Knowledge Park Company CEO Shahid Zaman, Paragon city manager Shehzad Waheed and director finance Farhan Ali be put on the ECL.
