The Karachi Port handled 131,456 tonnes of cargo comprising 84,848 tonnes of import cargo and 46,608 tonnes of export cargo including 8,060 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 84,848 tonnes comprised of 54,367 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,400 tonnes of rock phosphate; 8,500 tonnes of coal; 6,230 tonnes of DAP and 9,351 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 46,608 tonnes comprised of 46,391 tonnes of containerised cargo and 217 tonnes of bulk cargo.
As many as 8,060 containers comprising of 3,833 containers import and 4,227 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,371 of 20's and 1,055 of 40's loaded while 258 of 20's and 47 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 994 of 20's and 987 of 40's loaded containers while 387 of 20's and 436 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely UAFL Zanzibar, MS Tiger, MT Karachi, Maersk Magellan and Da Cui Yun carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Hyundai Splendor, Polo, Hansa Offenburg, Necklace, Chemroad Nova and Thor Integrity carrying containers, canola, oil tanker and coal respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 153,738 tonnes includes 50,000 tonnes of furnace oil; 19,035 tonnes of palm oil; 33,959 tonnes of coal; 13,680 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 2,902 tonnes of palm kernel and 34,162 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 54,777 tonnes includes 54,777 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,681 containers comprising of 1,798 containers import and 2,883 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were two ships namely CV Northern Monument and CV Botany Bay carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely CV CSAV Tyndall and MT Adele Marina Rizzo carrying containers and furnace oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV CSAV Tyndall, CV Northern Monument, CV Botany Bay, MV Spring Melody, MV Sbi Leo, MV Stahla, MV Ocean Princess, MV Dewi Sarabwati, MT Adele Marina Rizzo and MT Atlas were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, bitumen, soyabean seeds, palm kernel, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as nineteen ships namely CV APL Antwerp, CV Express Athens, MV Industrial Revolution, MV Tatjana, MV Amadeus, MV Shan Dong Chong, MV Euro Force, MV Spar Vega, MV Navios Oriana, MV YM Miranda, MT Maria-III, MT Lion-M, MT Euro Brave, MT Glorious, MT Freight Margie, MT Jo Pinari, MT NCC Qamar, MT Risa and MT Phonix Nereid carrying containers, project cargo, steel product, soyabean, condensate, coal, cement, chemical, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV APL Antwerp, CV Express Athens, MV Industrial Revolution, MV YM Miranda and MT Lion-M carrying containers, project cargo, chemical and furnace oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were two ships namely CV CMA CGM New Jersey and CV Maersk Benolonville carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
