Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday formally wrote to Ministry of Defence for deployment of Pakistan Army personnel in and outside the polling stations on election day to avert any untoward incident. In a letter sent to the Ministry of Defence, the ECP has sought deployment of Pakistan Army personnel from July 23 till July 26, 2018 to ensure foolproof security at the poling stations for holding the elections in a peaceful environment.
The ECP also requested deployment of Pakistan Army in Printing Corporation of Pakistan Press, Islamabad, National Printing Security Company, Karachi, and Pakistan Post Foundation, Islamabad, during the printing and supply of ballot papers from June 27 till July 26, 2018.
Meanwhile, the ECP also announced that it has made arrangements for the postal ballots to facilitate the persons with disabilities in casting their votes on the election day. Those who have been issued the National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) card of persons with disability can by July 5, 2018 submit applications with returning officers concerned for availing the opportunity of postal ballot.
