National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday summoned Zulfiqar Bukhari, a close friend of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, who is accused of owning an offshore company. An official of NAB said that NAB Rawalpindi has contacted Bukhari to appear before it on Monday next as an inquiry is under way against him.
Following directions of the Supreme Court to take action against all those who own offshore firms, the NAB had served three notices on Bukhari to appear before it. Islamabad High Court also instructed Bukhari to join an ongoing NAB probe against him. The court issued the directives while hearing two petitions simultaneously; one filed by Bukhari seeking removal of his name from the blacklist, and the other where a petitioner has challenged removal of Bukhari's name from the blacklist within hours which allowed him to leave the country for Umrah a few days ago.
