The country's seafood export shot up to $423.996 million in July-May 2017-18, up by 16.33 percent, official figures say. Increase in fisheries export comes to the tune of $59.515 million in July-May 2017-18 from $364.481 million in July-May 2016-17, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics indicates.
Seafood export volume grew by 25 percent or 35,593 metric tonnes to 178,906 metric tonnes in July-May 2017-18 from 143,313 metric tonnes in July-May 2016-17. In May 2018, the country exported $52.431 million of seafood, compared to the commodity's export of $48.012 million in May 2017. In term of quantity, seafood export posted a rise of 12.27 percent or 2493 metric tonnes to 22,813 metric tonnes in May 2018 as against 20,320 metric tonnes in May 2017.
