Chief Justice Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar here Monday formed a committee for the issuance of Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) to the transgender community within fortnight. Chief Justice held suo motu proceedings on transgender people who had briefed the CJP about non-issuance of CNICs to them during his visit of to Fountain House Lahore.
CJP observed, "The CNICs of transgender people should be formed while following the one-window process. I will monitor the entire process myself," the CJP added. The CJP said, "Whether the government makes effort for them or not, the judiciary will do whatever it can" and maintained, "We will formulate such a system that will provide justice to these people at their doorstep.
