Ex-CJP Iftikhar accused of launching malicious drive against Imran
In a tit-for-tat response, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesman Fawad Chaudhry on Monday accused former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry of launching a malicious campaign against party chairman Khan on the behest of his rivals especially the PML-N. Speaking at a presser here, he said that the former top judge is doing all this 'drama' on behalf of PTI rivals particularly Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) as they failed to achieve anything through "Reham Khan's flop show".
"Iftikhar Chaudhry is like a tumor in Pakistani system and the game being played by him will damage the politics. Why can't NAB see cases against Iftikhar Chaudhry," he questioned. Former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has filed a case against PTI chief Imran Khan's eligibility to hold public office under Article 62 (1)(f) over allegations that he fathered a "love child".
Iftikhar Chaudhry, now the president of the Pakistan Justice and Democratic Party, claimed that he has evidence to show that Khan has admitted to being the father of Tyrian White while abroad, but denies the same in Pakistan.
Fawad alleged that Iftikhar Chaudhry and his son Arsalan Iftikhar had made billions of rupees, adding Iftikhar Chaudhry had signed a deal with PML-N in 2013. "Nawaz Sharif first promised Iftikhar Chaudhry the post of President of Pakistan but then he backed off," he alleged. "PTI has no personal enmity with Nawaz Sharif," he said, adding the PML-N quaid must he held accountable for laundering Rs 300 billion abroad.
Fawad lamented that Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had not just removed loyalists of former governments in Punjab and Sindh. "Tomorrow is the last date of scrutiny of nomination papers, but Nawaz Sharif and his lawyers are using delaying tactics," he added.
