Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Amin Wains said on Wednesday that the Punjab police have given benefits worth over Rs 780 million to the families of martyred cops during a span of one year.
"The heirs of more than 85 martyr families have so far been awarded government jobs on family claim basis during last year," the CCPO revealed while speaking to a ceremony held to distribute Eid gifts among the heirs of martyred police officials and to mark the first anniversary of the Welfare-Eye software which was exclusively designed and launched to cater the needs of the families of martyred cops.
A good number of children of the martyred officials also attended the ceremony and collected their Eid gifts from the CCPO and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Admin Rana Ayyaz Saleem. DIG Operations Lahore Dr Moin Masood, SSP Operations Muntazir Mehdi, acting CTO Asif Siddiq and all SPs from investigations and operations wings and the families of martyred officials attended the event.
The children who attended the ceremony were given Eid gifts of their own choice by the Lahore Police. They hailed the working of the Welfare-Eye and also offered warm wishes to the senior cops for inviting and awarding them 'Eidi'.
"Through the Welfare-Eye, the Lahore police department is striving hard for the families of brave and young officers who have sacrificed their lives for the safety and security of citizens," the CCPO said, adding he considers all the families as a single family and that their welfare is his prime responsibility.
CCPO Amin also paid special thanks to SSP Rana Ayaz for developing this software. He said after the accomplishment of this software, Lahore police have also initiated some other welfare projects. The success of this software is also marked by the fact that police forces of other provinces are also introducing this software into their departments.
According to the CCPO, the problems of the martyred cops' families are being addressed swiftly through a hassle-free SMS system and this practice will continue in the future as well. He said the sacrifices of the martyred officials shall be remembered in golden words, adding our future generations will continue to pay salute to them for the ages.
