The Karachi Port handled 171,378 tonnes of cargo comprising 122,764 tonnes of import cargo and 48,614 tonnes of export cargo including 5,772 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 122,764 tonnes comprised of 50,450 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,436 tonnes of rock phosphate; 29,593 tonnes of coal and 38,285 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 48,614 tonnes comprised of 10,607 tonnes of containerised cargo; 20,700 tonnes of clinkers; 3,687 tonnes of wheat and 13,620 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,772 containers comprising of 3,850 containers import and 1,922 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 844 of 20's and 1,367 of 40's loaded while 24 of 20's and 124 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 362 of 20's and 62 of 40's loaded containers while 330 of 20's and 553 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Houyoshi Park, Fateh-1 and Tian E Zuo carrying oil tanker, chemical and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were nine vessels viz. Hyundi Brave, Talassa, MS Tiger, Tubul, Bomar Hermes, Vinjerac, Everrich-1, Salamina and Vantage Key carrying containers, oil tankers and rock phosphate respectively currently at the berths.
The total export cargo of 44,327 tonnes includes; 10,146 tonnes of cement and 34,181 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,667 containers comprising of 1,868 containers import and 1,799 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were two ships namely MV New Able, MV Mandarin Singapore carrying steel coils and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two more ships namely CV CMA CGM Fidelio and MT Caspian Gas carrying containers and LNG respectively expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV MSC Heidi, CV CMA CGM Fidelio, MV Ken Wave, MV New Able, MV Mandarin Singapore, MV Red Daisey, MV Coventry, MV Jo Pinari, MT Caspian Gas and MT Muscat Silver were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, steel coils, coal, canola seeds, mogas, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as sixteen ships namely CV MSC Athos, MV Reem-3, MV Amadeus, MV Slahia, MV Dewi Saraswati, MV Forever SW, MV Engia Dina, MV YM Miranda, MT Maria-III, MT Omera Legacy, MT Sovereign, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Wall Eye, MT Capella, MT Eva Bergen and MT BW Cobalt carrying containers, bitumen, soyabean, canola seeds, coal, chemical, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV Maersk Kensington, MV Reem-3 and MV Forever SW carrying containers, bitumen and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Iron Ore & Coal Berth respectively on Tuesday. There were two ships namely CV Maersk Kensington and CV MSC Globe carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
