Various Shia organizations on Friday took to M A Jinnah Road to denounce the illegal US backed Israeli occupation on Palestine and its brutal actions against the Muslims. Thousands of protesters including women and children gathered at Numaish roundabout from parts of the metropolis after Friday prayers, and then marched towards M.A. Jinnah Road to Regal Chowk in Saddar to lodge their protest against the Israeli oppression against the Palestinian Muslims.
The demonstration was part of 'Al-Quds Freedom Day' which is marked every year on last Friday (Jummat-ul-Wida) of the holy month of Ramadan in many Muslim countries including Iran and Pakistan.
The rally was organized by Imamia Students' Organization (ISO), Shia Ullema Council (SUC), Jafaria Students' Organization (JSO) etc.
'Al-Quds Freedom Day' was officially announced by Ayatullah Khamenei (late), the supreme spiritual leader of Iran who brought Islamic Revolution in his country back in 1980s calling the Muslims of the world to condemn Israel's illegal occupation on Palestine and the violation of fundamental, political and social rights of the Muslim community till the independence of Al-Aqsa.
The protesters were carrying the portraits of Imam Khomeni, Ayatullah Khamenei, Syed Hassan Nasarullah, and held aloft the flags of Hezbullah, and the ISO, chanting the slogans against the United States and Israel. Tight security arrangements were made by law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) and the Imamia Scouts.
