The Karachi Port handled 205,886 tonnes of cargo comprising 161,980 tonnes of import cargo and 43,906 tonnes of export cargo including 8,299 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 161,980 tonnes comprised of 70,026 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,348 tonnes of rock phosphate; 37,000 tonnes of coal; 7,806 tonnes of DAP and 44,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 43,906 tonnes comprised of 27,616 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,140 tonnes of wheat and 10,150 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 8,299 containers comprising of 4,489 containers import and 3,810 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,892 of 20's and 1,282 of 40's loaded while 05 of 20's and 14 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 765 of 20's and 219 of 40's loaded containers while 791 of 20's and 908 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely MSC Jasmine, Sufolk Trader, Vantage Wave, Maersk Beaufort and Pavo Bright carrying containers, wheat, molasses and DAP respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. MSC Jasmine, MOL Generosity, MT Lahore, AP Ston and E Transporter carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and rock phosphate respectively currently at the berths.
As many as 3,178 containers comprising of 1,900 containers import and 1,278 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were three ships namely CV MOL Generosity, MV Valadon and MV Royal Princess carrying containers, canola seeds and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely MV Bunga Lilac and MT Al Thakhira carrying chemical and LNG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV Tempasos, CV Xi Hong Kong, MV Ken Wave, MV Navios Centarus, MV Spring Hawk, MT Al Thakhira, MT Tiamat Gas, MT Gas Puffin, MT Komome Victoria and MT Hydroussa were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, soyabean, canola seeds, coal, LPG, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as sixteen ships namely CV Songa, MV Reem-3, MV New Able, MV Sun Rise, MV Amadeus, MV Slahia, MV Coventry, MV JS Green Sail, MV Mandarin, MV Forever, MT Jo Pinari, MT Maria-III, MT Ibela, MT Sovereign, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Horizon carrying containers, bitumen, steel coil, barge, soyabean, canola seeds, chemical, Mo Gas, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV Songa, CV Safmarine Nyasa, MV JS Green Sail and MT LNG Express carrying containers, chemical and LNG expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Friday. There was one ship namely CV Safmarine Nyasa carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
