Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz's (PML-N) Parliamentary Board in its first meeting on Saturday vowed to stand firm against the elements seeking delay in the upcoming general election. The meeting PML-N's Parliamentary Board's first meeting was held at Chief Minister's House in Model Town with Shahbaz Sharif in chair and attended by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Senator Raja Zafar ul Haq and others.
Speaking to participants, former premier Nawaz Sharif said that the party's candidates for the upcoming elections would be shortlisted purely on merit basis. The PML-N leader and other members also vowed that delay in election for even one minute would not be tolerated.
"Holding elections on time is necessary for the democracy," he said and added a report published by Economist is not harmful for upcoming general elections 2018. Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said that the PML-N has only one narrative - "respect for vote". The PML-N's Parliamentary Board also appointed former minister for information and broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb as party's spokeswoman. She said she would try her level best to deliver party's stance to the masses in an effective and meaningful manner.
