'Elections will be held on time - you mark my words! Caretaker PM tells reporters
Caretaker Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk on Friday dispelled stemming speculations about any delay in general elections and stated the elections will be held in a timely and transparent mmanner. Former Justice Nasirul Mulk, who was unanimously chosen by the government and opposition for the slot of caretaker Prime Minister, during an informal talk with media persons after taking oath stated that holding of transparent elections is his top and foremost priority.
He told reporters to mark his words that elections will be held on time and he will work according to the duty he was entrusted with. The Election Commission of Pakistan will be provided every help for holding free, fair and transparent elections on time, he said. "Today (Friday) is my first day at job and I am starting work right away. The size of the federal cabinet will be small," he added.
A guard of honor was presented to the Prime Minister on his arrival at Prime Minister House after taking oath from the President. Soon after assuming the office of caretaker prime minister, his first decision was transfer of Fawad Hassan Fawad, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, who has worked with both Nawaz Sharif and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, to DG Civil Services Lahore and replaced him with Sohail Amir.
A notification issued by the Establishment Division said that Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Fawad Hasan Fawad was transferred and posted as Director General Civil Services Academy Lahore.
Sohail Aamir, a grade-22 officer of Secretariat Group, who was posted as Secretary Cabinet Division was transferred and posted as Secretary to the Prime Minister with immediate effect and until further orders. Dr Kazim Niaz, a grade-21 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service who was posted as additional secretary Economic Affairs Division, has been transferred and posted as additional secretary, Prime Minister's Office, with immediate effect. Kamran Ali Afzal, a grade-21 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service, who was posted as additional secretary Prime Minister's Office has been transferred and posted as additional secretary Finance Division with immediate effect.
