The Karachi Port handled 107,709 tonnes of cargo comprising 78,647 tonnes of import cargo and 29,062 tonnes of export cargo including 6,455 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 78,647 tonnes comprised of 57,368 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,755 tonnes of bulk cargo; 2,300 tonnes of rock phosphate; 4,660 tonnes of soyabean meal; 4,692 tonnes of DAP and 6,872 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 29,062 tonnes comprised of 20,575 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,087 tonnes of wheat and 7,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,455 containers comprising of 3,485 containers import and 2,970 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,473 of 20's and 858 of 40's loaded while 140 of 20's and 78 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 538 of 20's and 196 of 40's loaded containers while 152 of 20's and 944 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were seven ships namely Kota Kaya, Kota Lawa, Ever Deluxe, Athens Bridge, Chemroute Sun, Butinah and Asphalt Ten carrying containers, oil tanker, DAP and bitumen respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were twelve vessels viz. MSC Athos, MOL Grandeur, Maersk Salina, OOCL America, Hansa Offenburg, Flagship Lotus, MT Shalamar, AP Ston, Triton Valk, Vantage Wave, Smart Tina and Da Zi Yun carrying containers, oil tankers, rock phosphate, fertilizer, wheat and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
As many as 3,994 containers comprising of 2,470 containers import and 1,524 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were three ships namely MV YM Miranda, MT Totonno Bottiglieri and MT Manuela Botigliri carrying chemical, furnace oil and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two ships namely CV CMA CGM Almaviva and MV Thassao carrying containers and soyabean respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Almaviva, CV Express Rome, MV Thassos, MV Valadon, MV YM Miranda, MV Houyoshi Park, MT Gas Esco, MT Simaisma, MT Totonno Bottiglieri and MT Manuela Botigliri were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, canola seeds, chemical, LPG, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seventeen ships namely CV Hansa America, MV Maersk Pearl, MV Amadeus, MV Navios Centarus, MV Coventry, MV Durban Queen, MT Jo Pinari, MT Tiamat Gas, MT Maria-III, MT LNG Palu, MT Totonno Bottiglieri, MT Ibela, MT Lion-M, MT Sovereign, MT Komome Victoria, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Able Sailor carrying containers, condensate, soyabean, canola seeds, bitumen, Mo Gas, LPG, LNG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were seven vessels viz. CV Hansa America, CV Virgo, MV Maersk Pearl, MV Durban Queen, MV Navios Contaurus, MT LNG Palu and MT Able Sailor carrying containers, condensate, bitumen, soyabean, LNG and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were five ships namely CV Virgo, CV CMA CGM Georgia, CV Maersk Salina, CV Uni Florida and MT Tiamat Gas carrying containers and LPG respectively due to arrive on Friday.
