The Karachi Port handled 264,925 tonnes of cargo comprising 220,581 tonnes of import cargo and 44,344 tonnes of export cargo including 9,507 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 220,581 tonnes comprised of 90,024 tonnes of containerised cargo; 23,458 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,224 tonnes of soyabean meal; 10,672 tonnes of DAP and 91,203 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 44,344 tonnes comprised of 36,104 tonnes of containerised cargo; 290 tonnes of bulk cargo and 7,950 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 9,507 containers comprising of 6,100 containers import and 3,407 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 2,185 of 20's and 1,860 of 40's loaded while 09 of 20's and 93 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,017 of 20's and 385 of 40's loaded containers while 328 of 20's and 646 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely MS Tiger, Houston Express, Normanna, Basrah, Amis Wisdom-VI and Viking Sea carrying containers, oil tanker, wheat, coal and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. Ever Deluxe, KMTC Mumbai, Chemroute Sun, Pavo Bright, Viking Sea and Bao Success carrying containers, oil tanker, fertilizer, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

The total import cargo of 132,784 tonnes includes 27,681 tonnes of diesel oil; 1,300 tonnes of palm oil; 27,363 tonnes of coal; 19,989 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 3,327 tonnes of LPG and 53,124 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 9,568 tonnes includes; 1,664 tonnes of wheat and 7,904 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,212 containers comprising of 2,796 containers import and 416 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There were three ships namely MV Darya Mahyesh, MT Glorious and MT Sino Energy-8 carrying coal, diesel oil and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two ships namely MV Inlaco Bright and MV Reem-5 carrying wheat and bitumen respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV APL Miami, CV Maersk Denver, MV Inlaco Bright, MV Reem-5, MV Thassos, MV Darya Mahyesh, MT Gas Amazon, MT Glorious and MT Sino Energy-8 were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, wheat, bitumen, coal, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as sixteen ships namely MV Maersk Pearl, MV Navios Centarus, MV Avalon, MV Valadon, MV Coventry, MV Argent Gerbera, MV YM Miranda, MT Maria-III, MT Jo Pinari, MT Totonno Bottiglieri, MT Ibela, MT Lion-M, MT Sovereign, MT Komome Victoria, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Manuela Boligliri carrying condensate, soyabean, canola seeds, chemical, LPG, Mo Gas, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were six vessels viz. CV MOL Grandeur, MV Voladon, MV YM Miranda, MV Argent Gerbera, MT Totonno Boligliri and MT Manuela Boligliri carrying containers, canola seeds, chemical, furnace oil and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There were four ships namely CV CMA CGM Almaviva, CV CMA CGM Georgia, CV Express Rome and CV MOL Grandeur carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
