PAT issues white paper on five-year performance of Punjab government
Pakistan Awami Tehrik has issued White Paper on the performance of Shahbaz Sharif's Punjab government and said last five years of Shahbaz's government are just a pack of corruption, lies, oppression, killings, nepotism, sever violation of merit system, nabbing of political workers, foreign loans and plunder of provincial exchequer through formation of companies.
"Punjab Chief Minister, who claimed to break begging bowl, has indeed made Punjab indebted with over 600 billion rupees, though Punjab had surplus budget in 2007. He obliged his front men and kinsmen with 51 corrupt companies and blindly plundered provincial exchequer; these companies are under-trial in courts and NAB investigation. Yet the Punjab cabinet supported corrupt bureaucrat Ahad Cheema," the white paper alleged.
PAT accused Shahbaz Sharif of Model Town massacre and said he remained major hurdle in seeking justice of victim families since last four years. Eventually Chief Justice took notice and trial of the incident started. Shahbaz Sharif turned Police Stations into torture cells, arrested thousands of Pakistan Awami Tehrik workers during Inqlab March, unlawfully detained them; fake cases of terrorism were filed against them; their political rights were usurped.
According to White Paper, for past 10 years, Punjab has remained number one province not just in Police encounters but also in crimes against women and children, including abduction; Punjab Police was transformed into a political force, SHO to constables were appointed and transferred from Chief Minister office at the recommendation of elected members of Muslim League-N which promoted extortion, land mafia, and arrest of Political opponents. Shahbaz Sharif's claim to end loadshedding just proved a pack of lies.
This fact sheet was issued collectively by PAT's central Punjab President Basharat Jaspal, South Punjab President Fayyaz Warraich, and North Punjab President Brigadier Mushtaq Lila (r).
They claimed that despite being at the helm in Punjab, Shahbaz's government failed to provide basic facilities to government schools, more than 50 percent higher secondary schools still lack Science Teacher, laboratory, and computer lab. In the emergencies of govt hospitals of Punjab, treatment was 100 percent free till 2007, but today scenario is entirely different. Young doctors, nurses, lady health workers protested at the discriminatory treatment and oppressive tactics of Shahbaz's govt.
"Many junior officers were appointed at senior posts which was nothing but worst demonstration of bad governance. First time in the history of Punjab PCS officer went on strike against discriminatory attitude of Shahbaz Sharif. Interestingly, for the first time Punjab Secretariat was locked down at the behest of Shahbaz Sharif just to protect corrupt bureaucrat Ahad Cheema.
According to fact sheet, during last five years, prices of milk, fruits, vegetables, and meat increased from 30 to 40 percent. The formation of Meat Company led to increase in the prices of mutton and beef upto Rs 200 per kg. Farmers long marched for official prices of wheat, rice and sugarcane, as they were badly exploited. PAT leaders demanded third party Audit of 51 companies, Sasti Roti Scheme, Food Support Programme, Metro Bus and Orange line Project. Pakistan Awami Tehreek will observe end of Shahbaz's government (tomorrow) as emancipation day with special prayers.
