The Monday meeting between Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Opposition Leader Khwaja Izharul Hassan remained fruitless as they failed to develop consensus on caretaker setup in the province. In his meeting with Murad Shah at his CM's chamber, Khwaja Izhar presented two names for the caretaker chief minister: Ghous Ali Shah, nominated by PML-F and Aftab Shaikh, nominated by MQM-P, sources said.
In case, no consensus is reached between the opposition and treasury then the matter would be referred to the parliamentary committee comprising of four lawmakers each from treasury and opposition sides. If the MPAs committee too fails to decide, then the ball will be in the court of the Election Commission to announce the name of caretaker CM.
The PPP sources said Dr Younus Soomro who is a known orthopaedic surgeon and has worked at Civil Hospital Karachi is the favourite of ruling PPP for that slot. Originally hailing from Shikarpur, Soomro had served as caretaker federal health minister in 2013.
