Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday directed Sindh Government to scrutinize 1080 headmasters, inducted in 2015 across the province when it resumed the hearing on the petition challenging these appointments.
A division bench of the court headed Justice Irfan Saadat Khan in its judgment directed the Chief Secretary Sindh to carry out the scrutiny of these headmasters in 30 days time and submit the report in this regard. The appointments of headmasters were challenged by Muhammad Azeem, who was a candidate for appointment of headmaster and moved the court against what he described these appointments illegal. The petitioner stated that 1080 headmasters were inducted in the province without appearing in Sindh Public Service Commission in 2015.
The court in its judgment observed that all these appointments should be declared null and void if they are not made in accordance with the law.
"While scrutinizing the appointments of these inductions, one aspect should be considered that whether the relevant laws were followed or not," the court ordered when it directed Sindh Chief Secretary to carry out this exercise and complete it in thirty days.
Disappearance of coins from market The SHC on Monday sought the replies from Federal Finance Ministry and State Bank of Pakistan on disappearance of coins of various denominations across the country, which has been described as financial loss to the common man.
Petitioner Iqbal Kazmi moved the court by drawing its attention to disappearance of coins from the market. The coins of various denominations like five paisas, ten paisas, twenty five paisas and fifty paisas have been disappeared from the market deliberately.
The petitioner put the total value of the disappeared coins of various denominations at Rs 88 billion and submitted before the court that this has caused immense loss to citizens of the country. He pointed out that disappearance of these coins have deprived the people of receiving their actual amount while shopping and particularly referred to petrol pumps where customers are not paid back their amount in coins.
