Secretary General, Jamaat-e-Islami, Liaqat Baloch, who is also Secretary General of the MMA, has welcomed the National Security Council decision endorsing the merger of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Speaking at an Iftar dinner for MMA's provincial leadership, he also appreciated the NSC decisions regarding administrative and financial matters of the Azad Kashmir, Gilgit and Baltistan. However, he said it would have been better if the elected government and the parliament had taken these decisions. He said it was only because of the incompetence of the political forces that the state institutions were having an upper hand over the politicians.
Liaqat Baloch said that the delay in the appointment of the caretaker Prime Minister and the disappointment of the National Assembly Speaker on this score was a matter of deep concern. He however said the nation expected that the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition would be able to exercise their constitutional right in this respect and their failure in this regard could have serious consequences.
The JI Secretary General said that the wheel jam in Held Kashmir and the boycott of the Kashmiris on the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Modi made it clear that the Kashmiris would never accept India's slavery and they were determined to get their right of self determination.
He expressed deep grief over the brutal murder of a Pakistani girl student in the firing at a Texas school and said that such happenings were the result of US President Trump's extremist policies and emotional attitude were increasing extremism and intolerance in the US. He believed that the Americans themselves felt ashamed of such incidents.
