The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Director General made a surprise visit to Batapur Ramazan Bazaar on Saturday and ordered immediate shutting down of stalls selling unregistered cold drinks and beverages. DG PFA Noor-ul-Amin Mengal took serious notice of substandard and unhygienic items being sold at the Bazaar after receiving complaints from the general public and district administration.
He also issued final warnings to the stall-holders involved in selling substandard items. He ordered the PFA teams to immediately check factories producing these cold drinks and beverages. The PFA teams also carried out on-the-spot tests for checking adulteration and substandard items. The DG also awarded Rs 10,000 cash prize to three stall holders who were selling fresh vegetables grown with canal water.
