Uproar in legislature after Nusrat points shoe at Deputy Speaker
Sindh Assembly's post-budget was marred by a rumpus erupted when Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) MPA Nusrat Sehar Abbasi pointed her shoe towards Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza. The situation aggravated when Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MPA Mir Mumtaz Jakhrani used indecent language against Abbasi, following protest from the opposition desk.
MPA Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan, MPA from Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) who is also Leader of the Opposition condemned the offensive words and requested the deputy speaker to omit it. Nusrat waited for no second and raised her shoe at Shehla Raza despite expunging derogatory remarks from the proceedings. The deputy speaker reprimanded her and asked her to leave the assembly for disturbing decorum of the honourable House. She said this is not an appropriate way to put forward one's stance.
She made it clear that it is not a mistake but a crime to raise shoe in the assembly. She further requested Nusrat's party to educate her some etiquettes as she has proven that she doesn't deserve to be a part of the august House. Meanwhile, Nusrat Sehar Abbasi said that no one can expel her from the assembly.
