Metro bus service remained suspended for the sixth day on Thursday as a group of about three dozen visually impaired persons continued their sit in on the road At Kalima Chowk to press for their demands. The protesters are demanding provision of employment opportunities in government departments and regularization of their contract-based jobs.
It is an irony that no provincial or local government official has bothered to meet the blind people so far to resolve the issue totally disregarding plight of half a million daily commuters of Lahore Metro Bus from Gajjumatta to Shahdahra
A regular commuter of Lahore Metro Bus, told Business Recorder that the government had closed all public transport routes running parallel to the 27 kilometer metro track since the start of the service that has multiplied miseries of the daily travelers on this very busy route It may be added that Metro Bus Service is the only mode of public transport available to commuters' mostly daily wagers who travel on this subsidized route between Shahdara and Ferozpur Road. Since the transport company has suspended Metro bus operation, it is causing great hassle for the citizens and adding to their traveling expenses.
