Chicago Board of Trade corn futures ended close to unchanged on Monday, stuck in a narrow range as traders awaited an update on planting. The benchmark CBOT July corn futures contract hit resistance at its 20-day moving average. Supported was noted at its 40-day moving average.
Concerns about rainy weather in the US Midwest slowing planting this week underpinned prices. Analysts were expecting a US Agriculture Department report to show that US corn planting was 59 percent complete as of May 13. That compares with the five-year average of 63 percent.
