War on terror: government announces scheme to benefit families of martyrs
The government of Pakistan announced a scheme to benefit the families of martyrs who rendered sacrifices in the war on terror. The beneficiaries include families of martyrs of Armed Forces, law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and civilians. The scheme envisages payment of profit to an eligible family member of martyrs at a rate equivalent to given on Behbood Savings Certificates. Moreover, the profit is exempt from deduction of withholding tax, said a press release issued here on Friday.
The National Savings Organization framed rules under the guidance of Finance Division, which have been approved by the federal government and notified by Finance Division on May 11, 2018. The scheme will be implemented by the National Savings Organization. The scheme was basically announced during the budget speech for year 2017-2018.
As per estimates the families of more than 27,000 martyrs can benefit from the scheme.-PR
