The United States has released the agreement for Ali Jahangir Siddiqui, paving the way for him to assume his new diplomatic assignment as Pakistan's ambassador to Washington, it was learnt. According to diplomatic sources, the agreement for Siddiqui has been received and he would be heading to Washington shortly to assume as Pakistan's new ambassador to the US. An agreement is the approval of a diplomatic representative by the country to which he or she is to be accredited.
Siddiqui is currently abroad and he will be meeting President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and after his return to the country before leaving for Washington.
Siddiqui will be replacing a senior career diplomat Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry who completed his term in Washington and is also due to retire. Siddiqui was designated as the new Pakistan envoy to Washington in March this year.
