Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KW&SB) has established 'online tankers centre' to mitigate the water woes of citizens. The customers would no longer be waiting at hydrants making long queues to avail water tankers thanks to Managing Director (MD) KW&SB Khalid Mehmood Shaikh who has established the online facility, enabling the citizens to bring water tanker(s) at doorsteps through phone call on designated numbers: 99245152, 99245178, and 99240802 from 5AM to 9PM, a KW&SB statement said.
"More phone numbers would be advertised quite soon so that the maximum calls can be entertained," it added. In order to ensure equal distribution of water, the board has allocated a day to day general public service quota of tankers for different areas of the city. If the water demand from any specific area exceeds from its general public service quota, the centre staff will offer the customer a commercial tanker. If the costumer refuses to avail the offer, his application would be placed on the next day general quota.
The costumer will have to share his name, address, contact number and required gallons of water with the centre staff for the booking of water carrier. In the same way, the centre will share driver's name, tanker number, time and charges with the concerned customer by phone. The customer will have to pay charges when the driver gives him the original bill receipt generated from the centre.
