Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq on Sunday vowed to award 50 percent of candidatures of his party to the youth to contest as JI candidates in the forthcoming general and local bodies' elections. "Fifty percent of the party tickets will go to youths to encourage their role in national politics," he said, speaking at the JI Karachi chapter's Youth Convention at Bagh-e-Jinnah.
He said only JI was capable to eradicate the menace of rampant corruption from the society. He lamented losses incurred by public sector departments including Railways, PIA and Steel Mills due to rampant corruption.
He urged the youth to support his cause in the larger interest of the country. He said 25 thousand people lost lives due to ethnic hatred in the city. He said Nizam-e-Mustafa is the only solution to steer the country out of crises. He hoped re-emergence of MMA would help introduce the Islamic system in the country.
"Education and Health are nowhere in the priority list of incumbent government. Federal government has earmarked a meagre amount at the rate of rupees 111 per person," he said. Siraj said PPP and MQM failed to deliver Karachiites despite the fact that the city is providing 70 percent of GDP to the national exchequer. "Without a developed Karachi, the dream of prosper Pakistan will not come true," he said.
JI chief further said Karachi hospitals are overcrowded with patients. He said there is no recreational facility for youths. "Once we come into power, we will ensure free education and healthcare in the country," he announced. JI wants to lead youths in right direction. He said JI wants them to respect elders, obey the teachings of Islam, and strive for the implementation of the system of the Prophet of Islam (Nizam-e-Mustafa) in the country. He said JI would prepare them for an Islamic Revolution.
On the other hand, Siraj said, international establishment wants to distract Pakistani youths from the right path of Islam. He called for a corruption-free Pakistan. Thousands of workers and supporters including women and children attended the programme. The party chief administered oath from the elected members of JI Karachi Youth who were elected in their intra-party elections.
Extending his congratulations, he asked the elected youths to work for betterment of the city as well as the country with dedication and sincerity.
JI Karachi chief Engr Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman lashed out at PPP and MQM saying these parties have done nothing for the social well-being of its Karachiites, despite their rule for many years. They remained involved in plundering the city's resources with impunity.
He said that the Muhajir and Sindhi cards are no longer useful for these parties because Karachiites have rejected their agendas which are based on ethnic hatred. Siraj blamed MQM for target killings, extortion, land grabbing in Karachi. He said PPP preferred corruption instead of serving people and working on infrastructural development, education, healthcare and sanitation of the metropolis.
He said these parties took everything from this city but failed to deliver. He claimed JI has changed the course of the city's politics as it has initiated its war against genuine problems including load-shedding, scarcity of water and health issues. He said JI would shortly announce future course of action.
"Jamaat-e-Islami doesn't believe in cheap politics and has prepared its charter of demands carefully on the basis of facts," he said, adding that their charter would address people's grievances. He said they have made public facts regarding malpractices and corruption, being employed by the administration of KE.
