Ahsan urges judiciary to resolve political cases after elections
Federal Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal demanded on Friday that judiciary should resolve cases of political nature after general elections 2018. If it continued giving decisions on the cases of political nature, it will give the impression in elections that judiciary is a party.
He said they will bring an interim set-up in which there will be no role of aliens. He said they were negotiating with Pakistan Peoples Party for the interim set up. He stressed his hope that consensus will be developed on interim set up, however, he apprehended that otherwise they will think that the PPP is a part of conspiracy.
He also said that they will file an appeal against the decision of Anti Terrorism Court in which PTI Chairman Imran Khan was acquitted in SSP Asmatullah Junejo attack case who was tortured during the PTI dharna in which the protestors attacked the Pakistan Television (PTV) building.
He said people witnessed the scenes of torturer on television screens but it is astonishing for him that Imran Khan was acquitted in the case. Ahsan Iqbal was talking to media at Lahore University of Managements (LUMS) and University of Lahore after attending different events.
He said he had never requested anybody regarding appointment of vice chancellor. He would appear before the Lahore High Court as he had not committed contempt of court, he added. He also said that since 1988 aliens were involved in managing the elections. He alleged that opposition parties are using judiciary because they were unable to defeat PML-N in elections.
Ahsan Iqbal said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is a game changer. He claimed that 85 million Pakistani youth will get jobs under the CPEC. "Pakistan's growth rate is 6 percent. Coal reserves of Thar are equal to the coal reserves of Iran and Saudi Arab. A coal power plant in Thar having capacity of generating 100MW will be completed in 2019 with the cost of US five billion dollars," he added.
