Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Kh Salman Rafique has said that 4,700 nurses are being recruited through Punjab Public Service Commission which would join the department very soon. He revealed this while speaking to the heads of medical educational institutions and the teaching hospitals of the province, here on Friday.
The induction of big number of nurses will help overcome the shortage of nurses in the hospitals. He also directed all the heads of teaching hospitals to immediately complete the arrangements of safe drinking water for the patients and their attendants as the 3rd party validation would be started from the next week and in case of any negligence the head of the institution would be held responsible.
During the meeting every teaching hospital and specialized healthcare institution apprised the meeting regarding the arrangements of safe drinking water in the hospitals including installation of reverse osmoses plants (RO Plant), water filtration plants, arsenic filtration, electric water coolers, water dispensers.
The meeting also reviewed the availability and provision of free medicines to the patients and infection control arrangements in the hospitals. Secretary Specialized Healthcare Najam Ahmed Shah said the Health department has sent requisition for the recruitment of medical officers/women medical officers to Punjab Public Service Commission.
The newly recruited 4700 nurses and doctors would be posted in different hospitals and distribution plan would be prepared according to the demand and supply in the light of requisitions submitted by the heads of the medical institutions, he added.
