Temperature is expected to scale up to 49 degrees Celsius with a hot weather to simmer several districts of Upper Sindh on Thursday, the Met Office said on Wednesday.
The sizzling weather may affect districts to the worst level including Kashmore, Qambar Shahdadkot, Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur and Jacobabad with temperature up to 49 degrees Celsius, each. Larkana, Shikarpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar and Noshahro Feroze are likely to undergo a hot weather with mercury touching 48 degrees Celsius, each.
Umerkot is likely to witness 47 degrees Celsius of hot weather while Tharparkar and Dadu 46 degrees Celsius, each, Weather is set to simmer Hyderabad, Tando Allah Yar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Jamshoro and Mityari with 45 degrees Celsius, each, and Mirpurkhas 44 degrees Celsius. Karachi is expected to fall to the hottest weather of the season with 43 degrees Celsius along with Thatta, Badin and Sujawal.
The hottest parts of Sindh were Moen-Jo-Daro with 48 degrees Celsius, Sibbi, Sakrand and Shaheed Benazirabad 47, each, and Dadu 46.4. Turbat in Balochistan also witnessed a hot weather with 46 degrees Celsius.
Temperature in Jacobabad and Padidan was 44.5 degrees Celsius, each, Chhor 44.2, Larkana 44, Rohri 43.5, Sukkur 43, Mithi 42.5, Hyderabad 41.5, Badin 41, Mirpurkhas 39.5, Thatta 37 and Karachi 36.6.
Maximum rainfall was recorded in Kalam as 12mm, Bannu 11mm, Mirkhani and Chitral 9mm, each, Drosh 8mm and Pattan 5mm. "A shallow westerly wave is affecting upper parts of the country and likely to persist during the current week," the Met said.
Isolated rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds is expected Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu, D I Khan, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad and Sahiwal Divisions, besides FATA, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
Sandstorm is also likely to strike Multan, D G Khan and Bahawalpur Divisions. A very hot and dry weather is expected in South Punjab and Sindh.
