Chicago Board of Trade corn futures closed lower on Thursday as traders booked profits and consolidated positions after the benchmark July contract failed to surpass Wednesday's high. CBOT July corn settled down 1/2 cent at $3.95-1/4 per bushel, a day after reaching $3.96-1/2, the highest price for a most-active contract since July 2017.
The US Department of Agriculture reported weekly corn export sales of 620,500 tonnes (old and new crop years combined).
