Altaf Hussain's case: MoI seeks Rs 52 million for hiring of UK law firm
The Ministry of Interior has requested supplementary grant of Rs 52 million for hiring of legal services of British law firm to take the case of Altaf Hussain in UK (Rs 23,000,000), special campaign against donation to proscribed organizations (Rs 20,000,000), provision for NPA, police, College Sihala, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) (Rs 9,360,000) and token grants (Rs 4,000).
The government has earmarked a sum of Rs 24.20 million for Interior Division for fiscal year 2018-19 under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), compared to Rs 15.666 billion in fiscal year 2017-18. The budget document shows an increase of 39 percent in funds for various attached departments of the Interior Ministry, including Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Islamabad police, Immigration and Passport (I&P), Frontier Constabulary (FC), Pakistan Coast Guards and Pakistan Rangers, and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration, compared to last fiscal year.
According to budget documents released on Friday, the Interior Division would execute 72 new and 40 ongoing projects during next financial year 2018-19. Out of Rs 24.20 billion, Rs 1,000 million has been allocated for construction of police hospital Islamabad while another Rs 1,000 million has been earmarked for establishment of anti riot force (ARF) consisting of 2338 officers/men and construction of accommodation for 2388 officer/men of ARF.
The government has allocated Rs 900 million for capacity enhancement of CAF management on the western border by raising seven additional wings for Frontier Corps Balochistan (South), Rs 800 million for capacity building of CAF-management on western border by raising of headquarters of Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan (South) and Rs 700 million for construction of model prison at sector H-16 Islamabad.
According to the budget document, Rs 669.490 million has been earmarked for capacity enhancement FC Balochistan by raising eight additional wings, 657.928 million for construction of accommodation for Abdullah Shah Ghazi Rangers at Karachi, Rs 625 million for construction of Town Hall metropolitan corporation of Islamabad (MCI) house and other related infrastructure for MCI, and Rs 616.794 million allocated for construction of accommodation for three wings at Hashim, Mena Bajaur agency and Suran Mohmand Agency.
In the budget 2018-19, Rs 600 million was earmarked for capacity enhancement of CAF-management on the western border by raising eight additional wings for FC Balochistan (North) and another Rs 600 allocated for construction of accommodation for Bhittai Rangers at Karachi phase-I.
The government has allocated Rs 569.153 million for establishment of model police station in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), Islamabad, Rs 500 for Islamabad Bus Service project and another Rs 500 million for street pavement/sanitation in rural areas of Islamabad.
In the budget, Rs 500 million was allocated for provision of security infrastructure in Malakand, Swat and other conflicts areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rs 422.068 million construction of accommodation of four wings at Gorgona, Painda Cheena, Dogra and Shilman Khyber Agency, Rs 450 million for construction of Frontier Corps (FC) hospital for FC Turbat headquarters FC Balochistan and Rs 400 for construction of accommodation training and administrative blocks and barracks for the establishment of rapid response force for Islamabad police phase-II.
