"The mega water supply project phase II would be started shortly which would be completed at cost of Rs 14 billion with the assistance of French Development Bank in order to supply additional 30 million gallon clean drinking water per day to the citizens."
This was stated by Divisional Commissioner Momin Agha while holding the meeting with French Development Bank delegation who called on him on Wednesday. The delegation was headed by task team leader Gwenola Michel including Project Manager Ahsan Paracha, Assistant Project Manager Anis Sarwat, MD WASA Faqir Muhammad Ch, Addl Commissioner Coord Mehr Shafqatullah Mushtaq, Director Development Mehr Ramzan and other officers were also present in the meeting. Divisional commissioner welcomed the French delegation and said that Punjab government had focused special attention on the mega projects of water supply and sanitation in Faisalabad.
He said that extension project of water supply was very important for the city for which financial assistance of French government was highly appreciable for the valuable addition of water project. He said that a mega project of water supply had already been completed with the financial assistance of Punjab government after which WASA was supplying addition 15 million gallon water to the citizens to the southern part of the city.
Task team leader Gwenola Michel thanked the divisional commissioner for giving warm welcome to the delegation and informed that Board of French Development Bank had approved the soft loan of 95 million euro. She also gave briefing about the contract documents. She appreciated the performance of WASA in order to extend the projects of water and sanitation. MD WASA Faqir Muhammad informed that the necessary arrangements of phase II of French water projects are being finalized at Jaranwala road. He said that with the help of phase II, additional 30 million gallon water would be supplied to the citizens and this project would be completed in next two years.
