The Karachi Port handled 112,673 tonnes of cargo comprising 62,028 tonnes of import cargo and 50,645 tonnes of export cargo including 4,517 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 62,028 tonnes comprised of 24,897 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,144 tonnes of bulk cargo; 6,749 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 24,238 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 50,645 tonnes comprised of 23,170 tonnes of containerised cargo; 767 tonnes of bulk cargo; 14,613 tonnes of wheat; 2,095 tonnes of sugar and 10,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,517 containers comprising of 1,688 containers import and 2,829 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 591 of 20's and 536 of 40's loaded while 03 of 20's and 11 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 557 of 20's and 263 of 40's loaded containers while 646 of 20's and 550 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely SM Vancouver, MSC Lana, Hansa Neuburg, OOCL Shanghai, MT Shalamar, Nissos Christiana, Reem-3 and Dato Fortune carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas, bitumen and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. CMA CGM Attila, Wan Hai-506, Hansa Neuburg, Bow Mekka, Sea Dragon, Southern Koala and Pantanassa carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 42,692 tonnes includes 15,700 tonnes of LNG; 6,299 tonnes of palm oil; 7,660 tonnes of coal; 4,901 tonnes of chemical and 8,132 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 48,615 tonnes includes 7,433 tonnes of cement; 12,511 tonnes of clinker and 28,671 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 1,937 containers comprising of 428 containers import and 1,509 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There were three ships namely CV Tempanos, MV Gaschem Pacific and MT NCC Maha carrying containers, chemical and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely MV Navios Achilles and MT Al Shumail carrying coal and LNG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV Tempanos, MV White Fin, MV Aris-T, MV GH Citation, MV Navios Achilles, MV Maritime Setoshio, MV YM Miranda, MV Gaschem Pacific, MT Al-Shumail and MT NCC Maha were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, clinker, project cargo, coal, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as fifteen ships namely CV Northern Power, MV Sakizaya Champion, MV Ruby Star, MV Pacific Talent, MV Endeavour Strait, MV Aziziz, MV Ocean Prelate, MV Vand Onissa, MT Maria-III, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Jo Pinari, MT Glorious, MT UACC Ibn Al-Hajiham, MT Corona and MT NCC Tabuk carrying containers, soyabean, coal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were seven vessels viz. CV Express Rome, CV CMA CGM Virginia, CV GH Chnook, MV Pacific Talent, MV Loch Nevis, MT Al-Soor-II and MT NCC Tabuk carrying containers, coal, diesel oil and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were three ships namely CV Express Rome, CV CMA CGM Virginia and CV GH Chnook carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Friday.
There are three ships namely CV Vergo, CV CMA CGM Attila and CV Northern Power carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Saturday, while another ship namely CV Prosper carrying containers is due to arrive on Sunday.
