Pakistan will be soon declared as a "polio-free country because of the sincere, committed and continuous efforts of the present government. However, the private sector should also expedite its efforts for the rehabilitation of polio infected children, said State Minister for Commerce and Textile Haji Mohammad Akram Ansari.
Inaugurating a polio rehabilitation centre in Surriya Majeed hospital, he said government is making all-out efforts to provide best possible health facilities to the poor segments of society. "It is encouraging that NGO's and local philanthropists are equally contributing their role in this field", he said and appreciated the efforts of Faisalabad Platinum Lions Club for contributing its role in the establishment of this state of the art rehabilitation centre.
He said successive anti-polio campaigns are being launched for the last many years. He hoped that although polio is under control yet campaigns to dispense polio drops will continue in near future to save children from any threat of this crippling disease. He also underlined the need for the rehabilitation of polio infected children and appreciated the establishment of this centre in Surriya Majeed Hospital.
He particularly thanked the efforts of Haji Mohammad Siddiq and Idrees Mian who are donating generously to run the free medical facility. He said other philanthropists should also follow their footprints and play their role for the provision of free health facilities to the needy segment of the society.
Earlier, Haji Siddiq told that free medical facilities are being offered to the residents of this locality through Surriya Majeed Hospital. Idrees Mian said the Faisalabad Platinum Lions Club is also supplementing the efforts of this hospital in addition to provide potable water particularly to the localities where WASA water is not available and sub-soil water is also brackish.
